Insurance Coverage

Most major insurance companies are accepted. Before scheduling an appointment for well care, please contact your insurance company to find out your benefits for well care and immunization coverage. As there are thousands of insurance carriers each with multiple benefit plans, it is impossible for our business staff to know each patients particular benefit plan. Unfortunately, there are still many carriers that do not cover well visits. Remember, it is your insurance carrier and your responsibility to know and stay within the parameters of your benefits.

Payment of the total charges is the guarantors responsibility if insurance does not pay in a timely manner. We will seek financial responsibility from the parent or legal guardian who brings the child in for treatment. If there is a financial agreement as in the case of divorce, we request that the parent bringing in the child pay any applicable co-payments or coinsurance directly and seek reimbursement from the other party involved. It will be your responsibility to contact your insurance company for nonpayment of services rendered. Statements will be generated on a monthly basis for any unpaid balance. We will be happy to establish a mutually acceptable payment arrangement for hardship cases. Balances over 90 days will incur a monthly finance charge and may be referred to an outside collection agency for collection if no payment arrangement has been established.

Medical Records

Requests for medical records require a signed Medical Release form stating the authorization of release from Inlet Pediatrics to the current doctors office. This is done within 30 days of the request and at no charge. If you, the legal guardian, would like a copy of your childs medical record, we will be happy to provide that to you at a cost of $15 plus $.50 per page.

Missed Appointments

Missed appointments and cancellations are inconvenient and costly to our practice. We set aside time for each scheduled appointment so that your child receives the best of care. We require at least a 24 hour notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. There is a $25 fee for each appointment not cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance. This fee is due at your next visit. After 3 missed appointments, our office reserves the right to dismiss your child and/or family from our practice.

Non Immunized Patients

Inlet Pediatrics will no longer accept new patients who are not immunized or whose parents do not plan to immunize. We also reserve the right to refuse to accept new patients who are not reasonably immunized or whose parents have no plans to immunize their child according to the AAP/CDC/ACIP Guidelines/Schedule.

We feel that immunizations are important to the health and protection of your child as well as other children in the community. We understand that as a parent, you have the right to make that decision for your child; however, recommended immunizations are a standard of care recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Centers for Disease Control, and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. As pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners at Inlet Pediatrics, we feel we are compromising this important standard of care by continuing to accept patients who are not immunized according to recommended guidelines.
